Sports at Lake Garda

Kitesurfing in Malcesine

In Malcesine the wind is blowing all year through. Therefore, it is one of the best places on Lake Garda where you can practice kitesurfing all year round. The strong wind “Pelèr” from the North and the “Ora” from the South blow respectively in the morning and in the afternoon. The latter is a more regular wind that blows until dusk, thus much longer than in any other place along the lake.

On Lake Garda there are only two regulated beaches from where you can get on water on your own: the first one is located in Navene (5 km north of Malcesine), the second one in Campione (on the western shore of Lake Garda). They are managed by local clubs. In order to access them as a foothold and make use of their services, membership of the local club is required. Kitesurfing makes fun and is easy to learn. The basic level is suitable to everybody, also to those who are not athletically prepared.

Paraglider – Garda Lake

You can live this fantastic experience together with the pilots of the “Aero Club d’Italia” and explore the beautiful territory of Lake Garda safely but from a different perspective: poising between lake and mountain with an unforgettable viewpoint.

SUP (Stand Up Paddling) – Lago di Garda

Stand Up Paddling, also known as SUP, only requires a board and a paddle: the rider stands on his board and uses the paddle to move on the water. SUP has developed from a centuries-old tradition originated in Polynesia – what a simple and brilliant idea! Paddling along the shore you will sightsee Lake Garda’s hamlets and the surrounding mountains from an almost unapproachable perspective. From the water, you will discover secluded shores and gorgeous views that you could never notice otherwise.

In Malcesine, everyone can find his own way of discovering the lake: in fact, here it is possible to rent dinghies or cabin cruisers, too, for a relaxed cruise or a training session.

The Municipality of Brenzone has opened its first bilingual Nordic Walking Park, whose paths stretch over 17 km from Sommavilla to Castelletto di Brenzone. They lead you across ancient hamlets, on the shore and among hills up to Navene and Sommavilla. At a higher altitude, there are six more paths: one in San Michele, one in San Maggiore and four on Mount Baldo at over 1760 m above sea level.
